Discovery and Exploration Backpacks @ Your Library
The Glendale Public Libraries are now offering a collection of themed Discovery and Exploration Backpacks for families and patrons of all ages! These backpacks feature a variety of books, hiking resources and tools, including trail guides, binoculars, flashlights, telescopes, bug magnifying viewers and more, that can be used to explore the great outdoors at any of Arizona’s many parks and recreational sites, or even in your own backyard! Writer in Residence: Katrina Shawver March-May
The library is hosting a Writer in Residence who will be onsite to write and provide instruction to aspiring authors. Katrina Shawver is an experienced writer, public speaker and the author of Henry: A Polish Swimmer’s True Story of Friendship from Auschwitz to America, an award-winning biography released in 2017. Glendale Public Library Services Expand to Western Glendale Construction Now Underway
The construction of Glendale’s fourth and newest public library branch, located on the grounds of Heroes Regional Park near 83rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road, officially commenced on June 11, 2018. The new 7,500 sq. ft. library is projected to serve 80,000 visitors annually and bring an array of branch library services and the latest innovations in library technologies to the western portion of our city’s municipality.

Main Library's Xeriscape Garden
Did you know that visiting a garden is good for your health? It’s true! Come visit the Glendale Xeriscape (low-water-use) Demonstration Garden that surrounds the Glendale Main Library. With over 400 species of desert-adapted plants, the garden showcases landscape practices that are in harmony with the Sonoran Desert.
